About
My name is Jonathan Jolly
Jonathan Jolly is a ceramic artist based in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire, creating handmade pottery and running small, beginner-friendly classes from his working studio.
In 2009, following a serious spinal injury that left him with limited movement in his hands, Jonathan turned to pottery as part of his recovery. What started as a way to rebuild strength and control quickly became something more.
Working with clay gave him a challenge, but also a focus - helping him regain dexterity while discovering a real passion for the craft.
That experience still shapes his work today. Each piece is hand-thrown with care, often embracing small variations and character rather than chasing perfection.
Jonathan later appeared on Season 8 of Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down, sharing both his story and approach with a wider audience.
Today, alongside creating his own ceramics, he runs relaxed classes from his studio - helping others experience the same satisfaction of making something by hand.
